Weddings at Sopwell House
Sopwell House offers a variety of function suites, each with a unique atmosphere. The St Albans suite, the largest, features a column-free ballroom that’s perfect for large indoor ceremonies and receptions. It accommodates up to 380 guests for a ceremony and 320 for a wedding breakfast, making it ideal for the most luxurious celebrations. The other suites include The Mountbatten suite, The Lady Patricia & Princess Alice suite, and The Princess Victoria and Prince Louis. Named after the former owner, Lord Mountbatten, these suites provide an intimate setting for weddings with 50 to 140 guests. Each suite features a spacious dance floor, stage, and advanced mood lighting to create the right ambiance for your day.
The hotel provides 128 bedrooms, along with 16 individually designed Mews Suites, which are perfect for close family or the wedding party. The award-winning Cottonmill Spa features state-of-the-art facilities, including luxury spa gardens and relaxation areas—ideal for a pre-wedding spa day or a couples retreat. The walled garden, with its Koi carp pond and charming gazebo, creates a magical setting for outdoor ceremonies, offering stunning views for your guests.

I felt honoured when Sabrina and Ash-lee chose me as their Sopwell House Wedding Photographer. Their day began with heartfelt exchanges of gifts and cards, filled with words that brought both laughter and emotion. The couple included their son and daughter in the wedding party as page boy and flower girl, creating cherished family moments.
Quality light and a beautiful setting are essential for great photography. The bridal suite at Sopwell House, with its bright and elegant space, offers both. Large windows overlook the garden, flooding the room with natural light that allows me to create exquisite bridal portraits.
Sabrina and Ash-lee’s intimate ceremony took place in the Mountbatten suite. High ceilings and French doors opened onto a picturesque terrace, adding a special touch to their vows. Sabrina’s joy showed as she exchanged vows with Ash-lee after ten years together. Afterward, they walked through a confetti shower, followed by formal family photos in the beautifully landscaped garden. The grounds offer a range of idyllic backdrops, perfect for capturing stunning newlywed portraits. As the sun set, we explored the garden, capturing serene moments by the gazebo.

Sopwell House’s recently refurbished function rooms offer a stylish and sophisticated setting for your reception. Sabrina and Ash-lee hosted their reception in The Lady Patricia & Princess Alice suite, which I photographed in all its splendour. Flowers, chandeliers, and elegantly draped chairs added to the ambiance, while soft purple mood lighting set the tone for the evening. Guests laughed and cried during heartfelt speeches, sharing in the couple’s joy. The wedding shoe game brought laughter, as Sabrina reacted to Ash-lee’s responses, creating unforgettable moments. After a few more toasts, the dance floor came to life as the couple and their guests celebrated late into the night.
